Operations & AI Software Development Intern

About the Role

MJI Energy is a building automation startup bringing AI to an industry that hasn't changed much in decades. We design and install the systems that control HVAC, lighting, and energy use in commercial buildings. The majority of our internal workflows, software development, and project management run through AI tools and conversational agents. We are looking for an intern who wants to learn how to use AI to build real software and automate real business processes. You don't need to know how to code already — you just need an operational mindset and curiosity about how AI can do the heavy lifting.

What You'll Do

• Use AI tools to build internal software, automations, and workflows
• Help manage project data, reporting, and business operations through AI-driven systems
• Work with the team to improve how we track projects, customers, and field operations
• Learn to prompt, guide, and verify AI-produced work end to end
• Get exposure to every part of a growing startup, from operations to customer delivery

What We're Looking For

• Someone genuinely excited about technology — builds things in free time, follows AI, tinkers with automation tools for fun
• A go-getter who doesn't wait to be told what to do
• Operates well in ambiguity — can take a vague problem and push toward a solution without a detailed spec
• No coding experience required, but should want to learn how AI can build software

Nice to Have

Not required — but these will make you stand out.

• Some exposure to programming concepts or web development
• Experience with AI tools or no-code platforms
• Interest in operations, project management, or business systems
