Our Origin
From HVAC Experts to Building Automation Innovators.
MJI Energy grew out of Michael James Industries — a commercial HVAC company with over 30 years of hands-on work in mechanical systems, climate control, and energy efficiency across the New York metro area.
For three decades, we learned exactly how commercial buildings work from the inside out: the equipment quirks, the system interdependencies, the field realities that never show up in software specs.
When building automation started defining what a modern commercial property needed to deliver, we didn't pivot away from our roots — we built on top of them.
This wasn't just a business evolution. It was the only logical next step.

The People Behind the Platform.

Jennifer A. Ramirez
President & Co-Founder
Jennifer's path into building automation started with a conviction: that the systems controlling commercial buildings were falling behind the buildings themselves. After more than a decade in HVAC, BAS, and facility management — spanning an OEM company, a large facility management firm, and the business development arm of Michael James Industries — she co-founded MJI Energy to bridge the gap.
Jennifer leads MJI Energy with a focus on innovation, client partnership, and building a company that attracts top talent into an industry that's long overdue for reinvention.

Michael S. Herman
Vice President & Co-Founder
LEED Accredited Professional
Michael is the founder of Michael James Industries and brings more than 35 years of commercial HVAC experience to MJI Energy — from engineering and installation to commissioning, maintenance, and controls. He has seen every iteration of building systems, from pneumatic controls to modern BAS platforms.
Michael's role at MJI Energy is to ensure that the platform we deploy is always grounded in mechanical reality — that what we promise in a presentation holds up at 7am when the system matters most.

Zac Herman
Director of Business Operations
Zac brings a background in enterprise software and operations leadership to MJI Energy — from implementing systems across automotive dealership groups to leading customer success and operations at CDK Global, where he supported a portfolio representing more than $1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue. Along the way, he founded SEED Classroom, a SaaS platform built from the ground up to automate student safety and attendance tracking.
At MJI Energy, Zac serves as the execution partner to leadership — translating vision into operating reality across sales operations, delivery, and systems architecture. His focus is on building the technology foundations and organizational clarity that allow the team to deliver exceptional outcomes at scale.

Kevin Cirincione
Business Development Manager
Kevin spent more than 25 years running County Energy Controls — the Long Island BAS firm he led as President from 2007 until it was acquired by MJI Energy. A BSEE from Hofstra and a career rooted in engineering roles at NCR, AT&T, and Hauppauge Computer Works gave him the technical foundation; two decades commissioning hundreds of DDC systems across the Island's commercial portfolio gave him the market.
As Business Development Manager, Kevin is how MJI Energy shows up on Long Island — credible, connected, and deeply familiar with the building owners and facility managers he's been serving for decades.

Our Philosophy.
01
Automation Should Be Earned, Not Just Installed.
We don't believe in deploying software and walking away. Automation that works is designed around your building, commissioned with precision, and maintained with intention. We do all three.
02
Software Is the Interface. Expertise Is the Foundation.
Our platform is modern and intuitive. But what makes it reliable is what's behind it: 30+ years of mechanical knowledge informing every design decision we make.
03
The Best Automation Is the Kind You Stop Thinking About.
When your systems are working the way they should, you're not thinking about them. That's the goal — frictionless performance that frees your team to focus on what they're actually there to do.
